For Christmas I was given my all time favourite camera. I have always wanted one but I was waiting to save up the money to be able to buy it myself. This camera is a Canon Rebel XS. It comes with special lenses for different types of photography. As soon as I opened it I charged the battery and I was ready to go. I was so excited about my new wonderful camera that I took pictures of pretty much everything in sight. No matter what it was my dogs, my son, the Christmas tree and decorations around the house. I was trying to get used to the size of the camera and weight because my other digital camera was really small and light. I also wanted to get used to using the zoom lens which you have to move manually instead of just hitting a button. The camera sure is amazing though. The amount of clarity and precision the camera captures is just exquisite. The detail of the images are amazing compared to my old generic digital camera. I'm hoping one day I will be able to use the camera efficiently and prefect my skills when capturing images through my Canon.

Life Changes In An Instant
I always wondered why my mother was so adamant on taking pictures of everything that happened in our lives. I finally realised why when I was pregnant with my son. I took the first picture of my son and I when I was 8 months pregnant. From then on, I have been documenting all of my son's milestones on camera. I can look back now and see everything from the first time he smiled, to the first time he sat up, crawled, even the first time he walked. Even though these things that he has done are just a memory, I can look back whenever I want and see those amazing times. I can see even the expression on his face when he took his first steps. How happy and proud he was. When my son is older he can also look back on his life as a child and I can describe to him how his life was like. A lot of people don't have that option. Without documenting his life, I could forget about the amazing things in his life he went through. I don't want to forget. I want to remember every second of his priceless life. Every smile, every step, everything. Photography is my way of never forgetting a single moment. Always being able to look back on my life and relive the moment that photo was taken. To me, that is amazing all in itself.
Life As A Photo
I have loved photography since my parents allowed me to take my first photo when I was about 10 years old. My mom has always kept pictures in photo albums from before my brother was born to just recently. She has every major event in our lives in photos. I love to look back and see the milestones my brother and I have been through. Without those pictures it is hard to really visualize all of my memories, but to have the picture in front of me really helps to make the memory come alive. It is also amazing to look at a photo and know that in that second life froze. Life paused for that very moment the photo was taken. Now no matter what I go through even when I am upset, I can look back on those happy times in my life to suddenly feel great again. Also for when you lose loved ones, if you have pictures taken then you can go back and remember that person alive and well. It's amazing how much a photo can do for your mood and or happiness.
